Redondo Beach encapsulates the idyllic beauty of beach living, while also being close enough to the hustle and bustle of the Hollywood studios to make them great partners in crime when it comes to making movie magic. The connection between the two started way back in the late 1920s with the famous Hollywood Riviera, built to attract Hollywood studios as a filming location after builder Clifford Reid spotted the land. A Hollywood buff himself, Reid thought the area reminded him of the French riviera, hence its name, and developed the land along with a resort for the Hollywood elite, the Hollywood Riviera Beach Club.
Over the past ten years or so, Redondo Beach has become an increasingly popular place to shoot. With its beautiful beaches, iconic pier, modern shopping centers, and Redondo Beach High School, it’s very likely that you’ve seen Redondo Beach on the big and small screen and not even realized it.
